Dr. Nathan J. Heide, LAc, DAOM, MBA, is a healthcare strategy advisor, sports acupuncture clinician, and founder whose work sits at the intersection of clinical care, private practice operations, healthcare finance, and strategic growth.
He is the founder of Anjuna Sports Acupuncture, an orthopedic and sports medicine-focused acupuncture clinic based in Eugene, Oregon. Since founding the practice in 2013, Dr. Heide has built deep experience in clinical operations, insurance-based reimbursement, patient care delivery, revenue cycle management, staff development, local healthcare marketing, and the realities of running a private healthcare business. His clinical work focuses on sports acupuncture, orthopedic injury care, dry needling-style electroacupuncture, manual therapy integration, and helping active patients return to movement with greater confidence.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Heide is the founder of Anjuna Strategic Advisors, a healthcare strategy and financial advisory platform designed to help private practice owners, healthcare providers, and emerging healthcare ventures make clearer business decisions. His advisory work focuses on financial modeling, clinic performance analysis, revenue cycle strategy, growth planning, valuation support, market research, and strategic decision-making for healthcare operators. He brings a practical operator’s perspective to this work, combining firsthand experience as a clinic owner with formal training in finance, strategy, and transaction-oriented analysis.
Dr. Heide earned his Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science, and an MBA with a concentration in finance and securities analysis from the University of Oregon’s Lundquist College of Business. During his MBA training, he developed experience in equity research, financial modeling, consulting, healthcare market analysis, and investment-oriented strategic evaluation. He also completed work in healthcare investment banking, where he contributed to valuation analysis, transaction diligence, market research, and client-facing deal materials.
Before entering healthcare, Dr. Heide served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy. His military background continues to shape his approach to leadership, discipline, operational clarity, and service. Across his work as a clinician, founder, and advisor, he is guided by a central belief: healthcare businesses perform best when clinical excellence, financial clarity, and strategic discipline are aligned.
Today, Dr. Heide’s work spans patient care, practice ownership, healthcare advisory, clinical innovation, and writing on the future of musculoskeletal care.
